Director's Message
The end of this month will close our 9th season of supporting breast cancer
survivors. To launch our 10th year anniversary, we are planning our 1st CFR
Collaborative Conference ~ To Fish is to Hope. The response has been
wonderful as are the line-up of speakers and panelists. This includes Martin
Cooper, VP of Design, Burberry USA and Dr. Carolyn Kaelin, M.D., M.P.H,
Director of the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Brigham & Women’s
Hospital in Boston. Please plan to celebrate with us. This year, our
volunteers shined again in bringing over 35 retreats to women across the
country. With their help, CFR was present at 50 breast cancer and fly
fishing symposiums and held alumni events. Thank you to all who have helped.
Please navigate the site to see the wonderful things happening around the
country. Two groups from our Western/Rocky Mountain Region have published
newsletters for their communities. This summer ad space on the Outdoor Life
Network was donated to CFR. We reached thousands of people and we’ve heard
from so many. To date 2000 women have attended a retreat! This year 500
women alone attended a retreat in 23 states and Canada! But we still have
more work to do. We’ve also had to turn women away. Imagine being able to
serve everyone who needs our healing retreats. Remember, it’s your support
that helps us reach this goal! Thank you we couldn’t do it without you!
As a national organization, we have
hundreds of volunteers across the country, some who have been touched by
hurricane Katrina. Our support goes out to our CFR family of volunteers and
alumni in those areas, but also to everyone who has been touch by the storm.
Thank you.
