Director's Message... and More
Welcome!
Welcome to the 2007 Season! I’m pleased
to announce that we have scheduled Casting for Recovery retreat programs in
25 states in 2007. This coming season CFR is planning a total of 36 retreats
nationwide, and it is a tribute to our strong volunteer commitment that we
enter a new year of retreats serving the largest number of states we have
ever served. (Casting for Recovery programs have also been established in
Canada and in the UK/Ireland by our sister organizations, Casting for
Recovery Canada and Casting for Recovery UK/Ireland.)
This year, we are also focusing on
building CFR to meet the ever-growing demand for our program. Imagine this ~
because we did not have the capacity, we had to turn away 800 women last
year!
At the end of 2007, we will have nearly
3,000 alumni and over 700 volunteers. We must focus our attention on
building our capacity so that we can serve more women, train more
volunteers, and support our alumni.
To that end, we are calling on the
assistance of all who know the positive impact that CFR can make on the
lives of women. Feedback from the participants in the CFR program confirms
that the physical therapeutic aspects of fly casting are more than matched
by the life affirming opportunity to connect with other women who share
common hopes and fears and with the opportunity to spend time away from
daily routines in a peaceful and natural environment.
If you would like to make a financial
contribution to our programs, volunteer or learn more about CFR, please
visit our Support page.
On behalf of our Board, Advisors and
Volunteers, thank you. See you on the river!
Warmest wishes to all,
Seline Skoug Executive Director

Thank you to the hundreds of men
and women who provide local river guidance to our participants. Many fishing
clubs and individuals join us on our Fishing Day to have fun and share their
knowledge of the local waters. Below is one happy participant from a
