Casting for Recovery believes "To Fish Is To Hope" ![]() Photo credit Kim Singer 2007 Casting for Recovery® (CFR), founded in 1996, is a national non-profit support and educational program for breast cancer survivors. We enhance the lives of breast cancer survivors by offering no-cost retreats tailored to promote and support mental and physical healing through shared experiences and the learning of new skills. At the end of 2008 we have served 3,500 women through the delivery of 269 retreats, helped by over 1,000 volunteers nationwide. Through 2½-day retreats, the sport of fly-fishing is used to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. The effective balance between the physical benefits of the gentle exercise provided by fly-fishing and the counseling curriculum benefits women at any age and any stage of treatment or recovery. The program allows women to get away from their cancer, while providing support from the medical/psychosocial professionals present at every retreat. We are committed to socioeconomic and cultural diversity. For more information on the Casting for Recovery program, visit our About page.

Greetings from Casting for Recovery!
As we approach the July 4 holiday our volunteer teams are busy: we've already conducted sixteen retreats! And we've just launched our first-ever national online auction to support Casting for Recovery, thanks to the efforts of a generous donor, Iowa Pacific Processors. The auction, which features a trip for six to Alaska-- to the beautiful Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge--will be open from June 27 through the end of July, can be accessed through this online auction site. Casting for Recovery has served over 3,500 women since we began conducting our retreat programs in 1996. Thanks to continuing hard work by our volunteers, and support from many generous individual and organizational donors, as well as from our national sponsors, Casting for Recovery will conducting retreats in 27 states in 2009. Our 2009 retreat schedule is posted here. If you would like to fill out an application to attend one of our 2009 retreats, you can download a retreat application.
