The 2005 CFR
Arkansas Retreat at Gaston’s.
Blue skies, lots of smiles, tears, hugs,
and laughter were the special moments encountered at the 2nd annual Arkansas
Casting For Recovery Retreat at Gaston’s on the White River during the
weekend of June 10-12.
The 2005 Arkansas participants were
blessed with excellent river guides, low water, and a beautiful Sunday
morning where many fish were caught and many fish stories formulated. Many
of the wonderful participants expressed that this was one of the best
weekends of their lives. Thank you all.
Indy Race for the Cure
We had a tremendous success at the CFR
table on Saturday, April 16, 2005. I couldn't guess as to how many people
passed our table but there were 36,500 at the race so it was definitely
several thousand. Also, 494 people stopped and signed up for a raffle to win
the two CFR tote bags and 2 hats we displayed. I was personally amazed that
almost 500 people stopped to write down their name, address, phone number
and email just to get our little treats and learn about CFR.

Patti Howell and Debbie Hampton with their Unsung Hero awards
Debbie Hampton, Patti Howell and Jeannie
LeBlond part of the CFR OH retreat planning team were recently nominated for the
Joslin Haggart Yelser Unsung Hero Award recognizing their contributions and
leadership for last year’s CFR retreat. The Unsung Hero Awards are meant to call
the public’s attention not simply to the individuals receiving the Awards but
more importantly to the countless acts of heroism that occur each day throughout
our community in the lives of cancer patients, their families and medical teams.
Debbie, Patti and Jeannie are 3 of the 52 nominees. Their efforts were
recognized at a May recognition dinner at the National Underground Railroad
Freedom Center in Cincinnati, OH. Great stuff! We are very proud of them.
