Fly Fishing in Maine Supports A CFR Alumni Retreat
The on-line fly fishing web-site
www.Flyfishinginmaine.com (FFIM) in conjunction with the Rangeley Region
Guides and Sportsman’s Association( RRGSA) held it’s first ever fly fishing
day camp this past weekend in Rangeley, Maine for members of Casting For
Recovery. Casting For Recovery (CFR) is a national non-profit support and
educational program for women who have or have had breast cancer.
The day camp in Rangeley was attended by 11 CFR members who were treated to
a day of fly fishing that included a private guide, a shore lunch and then a
celebration dinner at the RRGSA hall. “It was a great day” said participant
Donna Jordan of Pittsburg, New Hampshire. When a doctor tells you, “you have
cancer,” it feels as if your entire world has cracked up into a zillion
little pieces. I can't even tell you how much it meant to be a part of the
program. There are no words for it.”
“Flyfishinginmaine.com is committed not only to our natural resources but
also to those who use them and this is just one small way for our community
to give back”, says Ken Beaulieu of FFIM. “To say the day was successful is
an understatement as both the guides and the participants left with stories
and memories that will last forever.”
