4th Year of “Day Camp” for CFR Alumns A Trout-Raising Success
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 » Northeast
For the fourth year in a row, Fly Fishing in Maine (FFIM) hosted Casting for Recovery (CFR) past participants from the New England region for a day of fishing in the beautiful Rangeley, Maine region. Fifteen FFIM volunteer guides teamed up with fifteen CFR alumni on June 6th for a full day of fly-fishing instruction, stream education, fishing, gourmet shore lunches, and friendship. The teams spread across the region and fished some of Maine’s most fabled waters from the Rapid River to the Magalloway River to Upper Dam: one team even fished a spot that President Eisenhower fished. Club President Ken Beaulieu reported “Our 4th day camp might have been the best! It was an awesome day all around. The weather was perfect, the fishing was good, and dinner – provided by the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsman’s Association – was outstanding. We had so many laughs. I’m still not sure who gets more out of the day, the CFR ‘’sports’ or the guides. The FFIM crew is already looking forward to next year.”
