Casting for Recovery immerses breast cancer survivors in a retreat devoted to the psychosocial and physical aspects of recovery
|
| "As a fly fisherwoman, fly tier and breast cancer expert, I heartily support Casting for Recovery as one of the best programs for breast cancer survivors that I know."
Susan Love, MD | | |
| | | "My body is tired but my spirit is renewed. I leave with memories of strong, beautiful women and a new experience to build on. I leave with the information that will help me to continue on as a survivor..." |
| Our retreats are an important and transforming experience with a focus on social support and group interactions, reducing the feeling of isolation many survivors might have. |
| "Life has such treasures that are there for the discovery.
We only need to take the steps to find them. You are incredible 'pieces of gold'."
| Casting for Recovery offers a forum for women with similar experiences to meet, learn a new skill and gain a respite from their everyday concerns. |
| "Every
year, Baseline's employees vote on our corporate charities. For 2005,
Casting for Recovery was the clear frontrunner, a great testimonial to their
important and life-altering work. We love getting updated on the programs
we're supporting...it's been a mutual gift."

Partner - Baseline Consulting

| We provide an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a beautiful, natural setting and learn fly-fishing, "a sport for life." Just as importantly, we offer an opportunity to meet new friends and have fun. |
| "To all who made this weekend possible: many thanks for the beauty of the setting, the inspiration of the women who instructed and the connection of the survivors present.
I never imagined I'd have the opportunity to enter the world of fly fishing. What fun and joy."

In addition to teaching the fundamentals of fly casting, entomology, knot-tying and equipment basics, Casting for Recovery retreats focus on spending time on the water practicing catch-and-release fishing. The motions of fly fishing technique provides a gentle exercise for joint and soft tissue mobility.
